The Anesthetist responds to patient anesthetic needs across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases, coordinating care with perioperative staff and administering anesthesia under medical direction. Key duties include formulating anesthetic plans, patient consultation, performing special line placements, and meticulous documentation of care and substance use.
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia, although an exception is made for CRNAs who graduated before December 31, 2003, from an accredited program. Required credentials include SC RN-Advance Practice and CRNA-Nurse Anesthetist licensure, with no previous experience necessary.
