The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include administering treatment programs and maintaining a safe working environment.

Summary/Objective Responsibilities include providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities.

Essential Functions Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.

Administers treatment programs for patients.

Administers treatments such as manual exercises, instruction and patient education, non-manual exercises, gait activities, and daily-living activities.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations and standards.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading periodicals, and participating in professional organizations.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience Associate's degree for Physical Therapy Assistant Current PTA licensure in California Up to date on continuing education requirements

Preferred Education Experience 2 years of experience as PTA in outpatient and inpatient settings BLS/CPR preferred
