The Certified Surgical Technologist organizes and performs activities related to instrumentation, sterilization, and supplies used for patient care in the operating room. Key duties include preparing the OR, assisting the surgeon, managing inventory before and after operations, and ensuring equipment is sterilized.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and be a graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program. Required certifications include BLS (obtained within 30 days) and either CST, TS-C, or CFA, along with knowledge of clinical surgical technology standards.
