The MRI Technologist safely performs magnetic resonance imaging studies by preparing patients, positioning them, setting imaging parameters, acquiring images, and performing necessary computer processing and display functions. This role also involves conducting quality assurance scans, working cohesively as a team member, and consulting with content experts when necessary.
Candidates must be able to safely perform MRI studies, including patient preparation, image acquisition, and contrast injections, while maintaining diagnostic quality and enforcing MRI safety protocols. Required credentials include ARRT or ARMRIT certification within one year of hire, and preferred qualifications include an Associate's Degree in Medical Imaging and 0-1 year of MRI Tech experience.
Ability to operate complex electronic equipment and instrumentation and perform quality control procedures where appropriate. - Ability to transfer patients to the MRI scan table and push the table from the prep room to the exam room; must lift and transfer patients to stretchers. - Must demonstrate the ability to provide appropriate care to various age populations. In addition, may oversee students within the department and may be required to work with lab animals for research purposes. - Maintains ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.). - Utilizes departmental-specific tools to confirm contrast dosing and patient safety. These tools include the EMR MRI search engine, electronic dose calculators, image review systems (PACS), and other means designated by the department. - Works collaboratively with the local MRI leadership team to ensure smooth efficient patient flow and optimal utilization of the MRI scanners. Maintains effective working relationships and communication with all departmental staff and other hospital personnel.
