About the role

The Musculoskeletal Radiologist will interpret a comprehensive range of imaging studies and perform image-guided procedures such as joint injections and biopsies. They will also participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and collaborate with specialists to ensure high-value patient care.

The University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health) is seeking a fellowship-trained Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist to join our Community Division.

This position offers the opportunity to practice the full spectrum of musculoskeletal imaging in a collegial, supportive environment serving Prince William Hospital, Haymarket Medical Center, Culpeper Hospital, Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center and Gainesville Outpatient Imaging Center.

The role combines the advantages of a dynamic community-based practice with the academic connection and resources of a nationally recognized university health system.

The successful candidate will devote approximately 90–95% effort to clinical service and 5–10% to administrative and service activities, with flexibility to adapt as the division evolves.

Clinical Responsibilities Interpret a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal imaging studies, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and radiography of the extremities, joints, spine, and pelvis.

Perform and interpret image-guided musculoskeletal procedures, such as joint injections, aspirations, and biopsies, as appropriate.

Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences (e.g., orthopedic oncology, sports medicine, rheumatology) and provide consultative expertise for referring physicians and technical staff.

Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, rheumatologists, oncologists, and primary care providers to ensure the highest-value use of imaging studies.

Share in the division’s clinical schedule and call responsibilities, with occasional coverage at the Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center.

Service & Administrative Responsibilities Contribute to divisional quality improvement, workflow optimization, and patient safety initiatives.

Participate in peer review, protocol development, and marketing/recruitment efforts.

Work collaboratively with technologists, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality imaging protocols and timely service.

Support a culture of collegiality, inclusivity, and respect across the Division and UVA Health.

Help advance the professional reputation of UVA Radiology in the communities we serve.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree; board certified/eligible in Diagnostic Radiology. Fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Radiology. Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The base compensation range for this role is $503,453 - $602,506 for a 1.0 clinical FTE status. Individual compensation will be determined by fair market value and the selected candidate’s qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs, such as productivity, quality, non-productivity, or other incentives that may be available for eligible positions. Requirements

Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree and be board certified or eligible in Diagnostic Radiology. Fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Radiology and eligibility for medical licensure in Virginia are required.
