About the role

As a Hand Therapy Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain function, confidence, and independence through personalized therapeutic care. You will work alongside a collaborative team that values your expertise.

Position overview

UHS is seeking a dedicated and motivated Occupational Therapist with a strong interest in Hand Therapy—whether you are an experienced clinician or a new graduate looking to grow into the specialty. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high‑performing outpatient rehab team and play a key role in the development and expansion of our UHS Hand Therapy program.

This position offers the opportunity to work alongside skilled Certified Hand Therapists, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and gain extensive experience treating upper extremity conditions in a supportive and growth‑oriented environment.

Compensation Range

$37.00 - $55.50 per hour, depending on experience

Job responsibilities

Provide high-quality evaluation and treatment for patients with upper extremity and hand-related conditions, injuries, and post-surgical needs.

Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans.

Participate in splint fabrication, wound care (as appropriate), and functional rehabilitation interventions.

Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Hand Therapy program at UHS.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with department standards and regulatory requirements.

Educate patients, families, and caregivers on home programs and condition management.

Actively participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education.

Position qualifications

Minimum Required

Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy, receiving applicable degree or certificate in occupational therapy course of study, with Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent.

Possession of a NYS license or eligibility to be licensed as an occupational therapist.

CPR certification within first 3 months of employment.

Preferred

Master’s

Degree: Clinical experience in a hospital-based setting.

National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certified.
