The role involves conducting and documenting comprehensive physical examinations, synthesizing data, and developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies. Responsibilities also include providing management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and families, and participating in quality initiatives and clinical research protocols.
Candidates must be a graduate of a master’s degree or higher Physician Assistant program accredited by ARC-PA, or a master’s degree or higher in nursing with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Required certifications include NCCPA certification, licensure by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (or APRN licensure by Texas State Board of Nursing), and current ACLS certification.
