About the role

Job summary

Provide direct care to residents of Pioneer Care and assist with dressing.

Required education

Must complete the mandatory nursing assistant training program and competency evaluation and be eligible for the Minnesota State Nursing Assistant Registry.

Performance requirements

A. Major Responsibilities

1. Caring for long term residents in various stages of health.

2. Assist resident as necessary with activities of daily living, such as

bathing, dressing and grooming, toileting, walking/transportation, eating and exercise.

3. Keep resident unit clean and neat.

4. Provide for emotional and physical comfort and the safety of the resident.

5. Assist with the rehabilitation of residents, according to the medical care plan applying principles of prevention of deformities, normal range of motion, body mechanics and body alignment.

6. Observe residents and report to charge nurse any observations of change in condition.

7. Attend in-service, staff meeting, and patient care conferences as scheduled.

8. Carry out additional assignments as given by the nurse in charge.

9. Promoting good interpersonal relationships.

10. Carry out care center policies and procedures.

11. Proper care of equipment and use of aseptic techniques.

12. Regular, consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

13. Maintains knowledge of resident and Vulnerable Adult rights and how they can be administered and/or fulfilled in long term care

14. Other duties as assigned.

Work environment

Employee will be exposed to virus, disease and infection from residents and specimens in working environment, employee may be required to work extended periods of time. Incumbent may experience traumatic situations as the resident move through the end of life cycle.

Physical demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

This position required intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching as well as lifting and supporting residents.

Expected hours of work

This position will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, mandates, call in).
