The Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant provides perioperative management for patients requiring anesthesia services, which includes pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative evaluation for surgical and non-surgical procedures. Duties also involve administering appropriate anesthetics under a written practice protocol, operating anesthesia equipment, assisting with transport, maintaining records, and participating in teaching and continuing education.
Candidates must have successfully completed an Anesthesiologist Assistant program certified by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants and hold current certification recognized by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. Required credentials include current South Carolina licensure eligibility, proficiency in anesthesia equipment operation, current Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the AHA.
