The Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of an RN, performing tasks such as assisting with personal hygiene, bowel/bladder functions, recording intake/output, and collecting specimens. This role requires utilizing high-level assessment skills to ensure multidisciplinary patient care meets holistic needs while respecting patient dignity.

Critical Care is a 10-bed unit providing critical care for patients with both medical and surgical diagnosis.
Performs care requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect patient care. The CNA provides excellence in patient care while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. Empathy, compassion, communication, and teamwork are the hallmarks of the PCT-nurse-patient relationship.
Performs direct patient care and related tasks as outlined by scope of practice and including but not limited to:
Assist patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity.
Records patient intake and output (I & O).
Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
Changes and transport soiled and contaminated linens according to procedure. o Maintains clean and tidy patient room/environment.
Assist patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient’s nurse. · Sets priorities for the care of multiple patients.
