The Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Medical Assistant provides nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients and participates in nurse rounds. They are responsible for triaging incoming patients, performing diagnostics and treatments, and monitoring patient stability.
Requirements summary

We provide 24-hour emergency service and specialty referrals in surgery. We are looking for technicians and assistants who want to utilize their skills to the fullest potential in a moderate paced, fun, and stimulating environment. Our services are expanding, and we are currently seeking qualified technicians or assistants for our second shift emergency and ICU team. This role functions with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility; solid technical skills, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and with a team are required.

Duties:
Provide nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with specialty and emergency veterinarians
Participation in nurse rounds
Triage incoming patients presenting on emergency
Assess patient stability and obtain patient vital signs
Perform diagnostics and treatments of emergency and hospitalized patients
Perform hourly patient assessment and monitoring
Observe patients and recognize changes in status
Place peripheral and central catheters
Restrain patients for exams and treatments
Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids
Maintain urinary catheters
Bandage removal and application
Perform suture and drain removal

Job Requirements
