The Sonographer works with radiologists to obtain high-quality ultrasound images while ensuring exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include ensuring patient safety, explaining procedures, and maintaining equipment.
Follows and supports OSHA regulations and uses universal precautions when required. Cleans examination surfaces between patients. Provides clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels. Immediately cleans spills following universal precautions. Properly stores accessory equipment when not in use.
Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers. Facilitates and participates in regular staff meetings.
Technical
Competency: Follows routine standards and properly and safely manipulates equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images. Maintains sterile equipment and fields. Adjusts cameras to obtain the proper density and contrast. Performs any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment. Uses protocols to obtain images of internal structures. Critiques images for quality and makes necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred. Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound certification with ARDMS or ARRT.
1 year experience in sonography preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
The base compensation range for this role is $38.96 - $54.54 hourly.
Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred. One year of experience in sonography is preferred, and ARDMS certification is required within the first year of employment.
