About the role

The veterinarian will examine and treat companion animals for diseases or injuries, operating diagnostic equipment and interpreting results. Essential duties also include advising owners on care, performing surgery, prescribing medication, and providing counsel on end-of-life care.

Practice Monmouth Small Animal Hospital began in 1989.

In 2007, we found that our ever-growing business needed to be expanded, so we had a major remodel done.

We doubled the size of our practice, including 3 exam rooms, a large lobby, and a surgery suite with an attached treatment/pre-op/post-op room.

Today, our full-service veterinary team cares for a range of small animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and beyond.

Our practice is known for delivering high-quality medicine while empowering pet owners through education and partnership.

We offer a diverse caseload that keeps every day interesting, including general medicine, dentistry, advanced soft tissue surgery, and a strong focus on reproduction and theriogenology—making us one of the few practices in the region with this specialty focus.

We’re equipped with modern tools including digital radiography, ultrasound, and laser therapy, and we’re always open to investing in new equipment to support our doctors’ interests and elevate patient care.

Who We’re Looking ForWe welcome veterinarians of all experience levels who are passionate about patient care and eager to grow.

If you love surgery, are curious about reproduction medicine, or want to strengthen your clinical skills in a supportive environment—we’d love to meet you.

Essential Responsibilities Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.

Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.

Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.

Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.

Provide counsel around pet end of life care.

Maintain patients’ medical records.

Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.

Appropriate state licensure.

Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.

Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited institution and hold appropriate state licensure, along with eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD credentials. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain professional presentation are also required.
