About the role

The primary duties involve performing diagnostic CT procedures, and potentially other radiographic exams, while ensuring accurate patient history correlation and documentation for the radiologist. This includes preparing and positioning the patient, operating imaging equipment, administering contrast media, and initiating basic life support when necessary.

Overview

Perform diagnostic, surgical, and portable imaging procedures while providing safe, compassionate care and ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis. This role prepares and educates patients, operates imaging equipment, administers contrast when needed, supports patient safety throughout procedures, and serves as a resource for students and team members.

Schedule: 12 hour shifts, third

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic CT procedures.

If assigned radiographer job duties, also performs radiographic, fluoroscopic, surgical and portable radiographic exams.

Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.

Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.

Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.

Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.

Practices aseptic technique as necessary,

Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.

Initiates basic life support action when necessary.

Provides patient education.

Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.

Provides practical instruction for students and partners.

Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.

Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • Radiographer experience preferred
  • CT experience preferred
  • Certification and Licensure
  • ARRT Radiography registration required
  • ARRT Computed Tomography registration required (or must be obtained within two years of hire)
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire

Skills and Abilities Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software and Order processing systems.

Other Qualifications Must be able to take call as needed.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Occupational Exposure: Category A - All partners in the specified job classification have occupational exposure.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and risk of radiation.

Special Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and taste or smell.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited radiography program and hold current ARRT registration in Radiography, with CT registration required or obtainable within two years of hire. Additional requirements include state-specific accreditations/licenses (if applicable) and approved CPR/BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
