The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood samples for diagnostic testing, transporting these samples to the laboratory, and performing appropriate CLIA waived routine tests. Key duties include gathering specimens, utilizing venipuncture methods, ensuring positive patient identification, tracking sample progress, and maintaining work areas and equipment.
Minimum requirements include skill in clear and effective written and oral communication using standard English, and legible handwriting for accurate record-keeping. Preferred experience includes hospital phlebotomy experience, and minimum requirements include basic computer literacy.
The Phlebotomist draws blood samples to be used for diagnostic testing and transports samples to the appropriate laboratory. Provides updates to the patient areas on results of the tests. Performs appropriate CLIA waived routine tests or procedures in a clinical laboratory.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.
Hospital phlebotomy experience.
Basic computer literacy.
Preferred: Training as acquired in an approved phlebotomy training program
