About the Role

• The Pharmacy Technician in the Inpatient Pharmacy plays a critical role in supporting the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services within a hospital or healthcare facility.
• This position is responsible for accurately preparing, dispensing, and managing medications for hospitalized patients, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
• The role requires close collaboration with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to maintain optimal medication therapy and patient care.
• Attention to detail and adherence to protocols are essential to prevent medication errors and ensure timely availability of medications.
• Ultimately, the Pharmacy Technician contributes to improving patient outcomes by facilitating the seamless operation of the inpatient pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, medication names, and dosage forms.
• Familiarity with pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety standards applicable to inpatient settings.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an inpatient or hospital pharmacy environment.
• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from an accredited program or state certification as required.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management software.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Additional certifications such as sterile compounding or IV admixture preparation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions and hospital protocols.
• Maintain inventory levels by ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
• Assist pharmacists in compounding sterile and non-sterile medications as required.
