The Direct Support Professional will provide one-to-one adaptive supported living services to adults with developmental disabilities in their homes or community, implementing behavior support strategies and assisting with daily living activities, household management, and transportation. Responsibilities also include supporting clients with service plan goals such as budgeting, community access, and personal hygiene, while maintaining progress notes.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid California driver's license with insurance, and pass background checks and health screenings. One or more years of experience working with the developmentally disabled is preferred, and flexibility for overnight shifts is a plus.
Direct Support Professional Work Location: South Bay Area Employment Type: Part-Time or Full-Time Working Hours: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM (or overnight shift available, 10:00 PM - 9:00 AM) Compensation: $22 - $26 / hourly (depending on experience)
Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) is a Bay Area non-profit organization founded in 1996 and focused on helping individuals with special needs and their families find love, hope, respect, and support through integrated community involvement. FCSN Adaptive Supported Living Services (ASLS) is seeking an energetic, patient, detail-oriented, and reliable direct support staff. The Direct Support Professional provides adaptive supported living services to adults with developmental disabilities who live in their own homes. The DSP provide one-to-one support in client’s homes or out in the community.
In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) providers are encouraged to apply Bi-lingual in Mandarin is a plus RBT certification is a plus Must be 18 years of age; Has high school diploma or GED One year or more experience working with the developmentally disabled preferred Possess a valid California state driver’s license, current registration, and valid vehicle insurance Ability to work independently and display good independent judgment; Strong time management skills, patient, and detailed oriented; Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clients, parents, social workers, fellow workers, and others in a positive and constructive manner;
Must pass DOJ fingerprint-based background clearance prior to onboarding Must pass a health screening and TB test prior to onboarding Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record Obtain valid CPR and First Aid Certificate within one month of joining (employer-covered)
