The PCA assumes responsibility for technical patient care aspects under the direction of an RN/LPN, including checking vital signs, assisting with grooming, and managing incontinence care. This role also involves assisting patients with mobility, eating, and transporting them for procedures while promoting team behavior and patient safety.
Candidates must have successfully graduated and obtained certification from an accredited patient care assistant or certified nursing assistant program and must possess current BLS certification. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of basic medical terminology, and required knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
