The MRI Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures and ensuring patient safety and comfort during examinations. They will also monitor patient conditions and manage workflow within the department.
Candidates must have an Associate's Degree and be certified in BLS and ARRT with additional certification in Mammography. Critical thinking skills and the ability to work in a stressful environment are essential.
The role of the Student Radiologic Technologist is to perform diagnostic radiographic examinations under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist using JRCERT guidelines. Essential Functions: Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educate patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. Prepare equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedures. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. Coordinates MRI examination to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and assists with the management of the workflow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments in the absence of the MRI supervisor/team leader. Uses computer system in documenting correctly and accurately patient information to ensure the quality of patient care: (a) patient's full name (b) patient's medical record number (c) patient's date of birth (d) examination performed. Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges. Screen patients for any contra indication for MRI exam. Be educated on how to identify MRI compatible and non-compatible items within various patients. Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
