Provide continuous supportive nursing care to patients in the Ortho/Trauma unit, including those in the Step-down/TBI and joint replacement sections. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring physiological data, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to implement patient-focused care.
Requires graduation from an approved school of nursing and a valid Oklahoma State Board of Nursing license (temporary or permanent). BLS certification is required upon hire.

RN - Registered Nurse - Post-Trauma Unit Shift: Full-time - Nights OU Medical Center - Oklahoma City, OK The Ortho/Trauma unit is a 41-bed unit located on the 5th floor of OU Medical Center Tower. Within this unit, there is a 9 bed Step-down/Traumatic Brain Injury unit that provides intermediate care between that of an ICU and an inpatient floor division. Our team also serves as the hospitals only comprehensive joint replacement unit that provides skilled and coordinated care for elective orthopedic surgical patients receiving hip and knee replacements. The goal of the Ortho/Trauma unit is to provide continuous supportive nursing care to patients by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The Trauma team plans and implements patient focused care, which supports the recovery of the patient from admission to transition to an appropriate facility or home. General Description:Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential Responsibilities:Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge. Informs patient and family of hospital procedures. Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned
Education: Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills.
