Under the direction of an occupational therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant administers therapeutic procedures to patients recovering from various ailments as prescribed. This includes regularly reassessing patient progress and supporting findings with appropriate documentation.
A minimum requirement is an Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program, along with licensure by South Carolina as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is also mandatory.
