The Diagnostic Radiology Tech III performs radiographic procedures independently, including complex procedures in specialized areas. They are responsible for patient intake, answering questions, and operating imaging equipment proficiently.
Candidates must complete a formal Radiography program and hold necessary licenses and certifications. Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills are also required.
The Diagnostic Radiology Tech III performs radiographic procedures independently at a technician level, which includes routinely (at least monthly), performing complex procedures in one or more of the following areas: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Coroner Cases, Department of Child and Family Services cases and high-level surgical procedures. Responsible for performing technical procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Performs patient intake and answers patient questions regarding the imaging procedure. Follows specific instructions from providers on what areas to image and guide patients through the imaging process safely and comfortably. In addition, they operate imaging equipment proficiently in several different settings which include surgery and fluoroscopy procedures and demonstrate knowledge of proper imaging techniques (i.e. positioning and technical factors) in special populations such as children, the elderly, and patients with debilitating conditions. May confer and collaborate with providers on the result of imaging tests and whether additional images are required.
