The Direct Support Professional provides essential support, supervision, and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them achieve independence and personal development. Key duties include assisting with daily living tasks, health monitoring, implementing support plans, and ensuring safety.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED; a valid South Carolina Driver's License with an acceptable record is required. While no prior experience is necessary as paid training is provided, one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
All new hires must complete 7 days of orientation (8:30 AM – 4:00 PM) prior to starting at a residential or day program site.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support, supervision, and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a Community Training Home (CTH). The DSP helps individuals achieve independence, safety, and personal development in accordance with agency values and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties -
This position is classified as Essential. In the event of emergencies, natural disasters, or other urgent circumstances, DSPs may be required to report to work to ensure the health and safety of individuals receiving services.
