The role involves assisting the pharmacist in preparing medications for dispensing, which includes product selection, labeling, compounding, and maintaining accurate patient computer profiles. Responsibilities also include preparing sterile products like intravenous admixtures and monitoring automated dispensing equipment.
Candidates must have a high school education or equivalent and pass the Certified Pharmacy Technician examination. Essential requirements include effective communication skills, the ability to work well in a group, demonstrated aseptic technique for sterile preparations, and knowledge for safe handling of chemotherapy medications.
