The role involves identifying, assessing, and providing appropriate treatment for communication and swallowing function disorders, as well as counseling individuals and their families about the disability and its management. Key duties include evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, and promoting effective communication and cooperation across therapy departments.
Candidates must possess either a master's or doctoral degree and hold New York State licensure, practicing in accordance with ASHA preferred practice patterns. The role requires in-depth knowledge of speech-language pathology principles for evaluation, diagnosis, counseling, and rehabilitation related to speech, voice, and language disorders.

Job Title: Speech – language pathologist
Identifies, assesses and provides appropriate treatment for communication and swallowing function and their disorders. Counsels individuals with disorders of communication and swallowing function, their families, caregivers and other service providers about the disability and its management. Maintains a high level of professional expertise and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.
May perform any or all of the below-listed job responsibilities. The primary emphasis of the job may vary by incumbent. May also perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
1. Evaluates and develops a treatment plan.
2. Demonstrates a firm grasp of patient management.
3. Promotes effective communication and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork within the physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy departments, the facility, and other contacts.
4. Contributes to the efficient and safe operation of the department.
1. Must be eligible to practice speech-language pathology and has license through the University of the State of New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, Division of Professional Licensing Services and practices in accordance with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred practice patterns.

Requires either a master's or doctoral degree and New York State licensure. Requires in-depth knowledge in the application of principles, methods and procedures of measurement, prediction, non-medical diagnosis, testing, counseling, consultation, rehabilitation and instruction related to the development and disorders of speech, voice, and/or language for the purpose of preventing, ameliorating or modifying such disorder conditions in individuals and/or groups of individuals.
Heavy - Includes prolonged sitting, and occasional lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds (with assistance) with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
