This role involves carrying out basic patient care tasks under the direction of a registered nurse, adhering to established standards of care for the center. Responsibilities include assisting with patient care, maintaining cleanliness of perianesthesia and perioperative areas, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and maintain current BLS certification. A cooperative work attitude and the ability to effectively communicate with staff, patients, and physicians are essential for this position.
Carries out basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse in accordance with the standards of care for the center. Demonstrates the appropriate skills and ability, based on level of training and scope of practice, to care for patients based on the age of the patient. Age groups may include the adult and geriatric patient

1. Assists in the care of assigned patients as directed by appropriate nursing staff.
1. Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient and family rights, as identified by the center.
1. Performs his/her duties in accordance with the job requirements.
1. Understands the protocol for responding to emergency situations and the importance of remaining calm in this situation.
1. Participates in staff meetings, in-service programs and educational requirements as appropriate.
1. Communicates all pertinent information, including findings, problems, concerns or ideas to the assigned nurse, utilizing appropriate lines of authority, in a timely and effective manner.
1. Promotes a constructive/positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to cooperate with and assist fellow health team members as well as patients and families.
1. Seeks guidance and assistance from the assigned nurse when knowledge base and skill level is in question.
1. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of universal precaution, infection control and isolation procedures. At all time adheres to the Facility policies and procedures.
1. Practices aseptic hand washing according to CDC guidelines and policy.
1. Assist with the stocking of supplies in the perianesthesia and perioperative areas.
1. Assist with room turnover, maintains cleanliness of the perianesthesia and perioperative areas.
1. Terminally cleans stretches at the end of the day.
1. Assist with patient transfer in the perianesthesia and perioperative areas.
1. Maintains BCLS certification, if applicable.
1. Other duties, as assigned by Director of Nursing
