The Emergency Veterinary Assistant will be central to patient care by triaging incoming patients, providing steady support to pet parents, and assisting with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics like bloodwork and imaging. Responsibilities also include supporting credentialed staff during anesthesia/sedation cases, managing IV fluids and medications, and participating in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus, along with at least one year of experience in a veterinary assistant role, preferably in emergency or specialty care. Candidates must possess basic computer skills, excellent communication abilities, fine motor skills, and the physical capacity to handle and lift patients, while being available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
