The Certified Nurse Midwife provides comprehensive primary care services independently to essentially healthy women in both outpatient and inpatient settings, adhering to approved standards for midwifery practice. Key accountabilities include managing obstetrical services from antepartum through postpartum, performing gynecological services, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and managing normal labor and birth.
Candidates must possess a Master's degree from an ACME-accredited Midwifery education program and have a minimum of 2 years of full-scope midwifery practice experience. Required credentials include South Carolina Official Recognition Nurse Practitioner, ACME certification, South Carolina Prescriptive Authority, Controlled Substance license, and Federal DEA license.
