The Respiratory Therapist directs and provides professional respiratory therapy across the age continuum, utilizing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to guide or deliver care under physician guidance. Responsibilities include ensuring proper execution of all respiratory care from diagnosis through therapeutic treatment while adhering to policies and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy, be a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and be licensed by the Texas Medical Board. Preferred qualifications include 2 or more years of experience, and required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and PALS within specified timeframes after hire.
The Respiratory Therapist directs and provides professional respiratory therapy for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum. Utilizes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to direct or provide care. Respiratory Therapists practice under the able guidance of physicians and should ensure that all respiratory care, starting from diagnosis to therapeutic treatment is properly carried out. Works well under pressure and in emergencies, detail-oriented, able to follow exact instructions, works well in a team or alone and possesses considerable computer proficiency.
Projects a professional demeanor and appearance, while maintaining the confidentiality of patients, coworkers, and facility information while adhering to the HIPAA policy. Reports in good faith, any known or suspected activity that appears to violate laws, rules, regulations, or the SP Code of Conduct. Fulfills annual Cornerstone continuing education requirements per policy.
The patient population served by South Texas Spine & Surgical Hospital is a minimum of 12 years and/or of adult stature to geriatric patients requiring or seeking pain and/or surgical intervention.
