Provide daily care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home setting. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, administering medications, and promoting community involvement.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED and a valid Iowa driver's license. Ability to pass background checks and complete certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration is required.
Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides daily care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home setting. The DSP promotes independence, community involvement, and a safe, respectful living environment in accordance with Iowa HCBS/SCL standards.
Key Responsibilities Assist with activities of daily living (personal care, meals, housekeeping) Administer medications after required training Support individual goals and skill development Provide supervision and ensure health and safety Transport individuals to appointments and community activities Complete daily documentation and incident reports Follow agency policies and Iowa HHS/HCBS regulations
High school diploma or GED At least 18 years old Valid Iowa driver’s license Ability to pass required background checks Ability to complete required trainings (CPR, First Aid, Med Admin) Preferred Experience working with individuals with disabilities Strong communication and teamwork skills Medication Manager Certification
