The role involves performing a variety of routine and complex laboratory procedures on biological specimens using standard and specialized techniques to aid physicians in patient diagnosis and treatment. The technologist must exercise professional judgment to prioritize test requests efficiently and take accountability for the accuracy of all performed procedures.
Candidates must possess either a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an Associate’s degree in a related field plus four years of laboratory experience. A mandatory requirement is current certification from ASCP or AMT as an MLS or MT.
Performs a variety of routine and complex laboratory procedures under supervision using standard and specialized techniques, instrumentation and equipment on a wide variety of biological specimens to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Exercises professional judgment in order to recognize, prioritize, and facilitate varying test requests and workload in an efficient manner. Assumes responsibility and accountability for accuracy of procedures performed.
