The Cytotechnologist independently performs a wide variety of testing to evaluate for malignant, pre-malignant, and infectious diseases from various body sites, acting as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results. Responsibilities include processing specimens, assessing integrity, recognizing abnormal changes in GYN and non-GYN specimens, and directly communicating critical results to caregivers or pathologists.
Required qualifications include a Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college/university in a related laboratory field or a specific Baccalaureate degree from a CAAHEP accredited college/university in cytotechnology, along with the ability to work under stress and exercise independent judgment. Applicants must possess or be eligible for ASCP certification as a Cytologist (CT) or Specialist in Cytology (SCT) within one year.
Preferred Qualifications: 3 years experience in area of specialty SurePath certification
