The APP provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management for patients throughout their disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team, working collaboratively with supervising physicians to deliver optimal patient care across inpatient and ambulatory settings. Responsibilities include obtaining histories, performing exams, ordering tests, formulating treatment plans, performing procedures, and potentially assisting in operative cases.
Candidates must graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program, and while clinical experience is preferred, it is not required. Licensure requires active PA Certification (NCCPA) and Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, or Connecticut State Registered Nurse License and Nurse Practitioner License, along with necessary certifications like ACLS/BLS.
