Histotechnicians support healthcare teams by receiving, accessioning, and preparing tissues and biological materials for diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include performing microtomy, staining, and maintaining laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
Candidates need successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician program or equivalent education (HS plus college hours including biology/chemistry) combined with one year of full-time histopathology lab experience within the last five years. Alternatively, two or more years of routine histology experience can substitute for academic credit or certification.
