DSPs are responsible for providing individualized direct care, skill-building support, and assisting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities with activities of daily living and planned treatment goals. This includes electronic documentation, medication management, and ensuring the dignity and well-being of the persons served.
Candidates must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old, along with holding a valid driver's license and having reliable transportation. Successful completion of background checks and health screenings, along with the ability to meet physical demands, is mandatory.
DSPs play an important part in helping the people we serve live their best lives with meaning and dignity. DSPs are representatives of Amivie and are expected to create and maintain professional, positive, and nurturing relationships with person served and established support systems. It’s important that DSPs must be comfortable and willing to be a vital part of providing individualized care to those we serve. DSPs provide direct care, skill building support, and offer opportunities to individuals diagnosed with Intellectual Disabilities or Developmental Disabilities, mental health and/or substance abuse in the following areas; motor skills, communication skills, socialization skills, personal self-care or activities of daily living (ADLs), adaptive behaviors, and the execution of planned active treatment goals, electronic documentation, medication management, feeding/meal preparation, and interaction with individuals .
