About the role

This full-time role involves practicing as a Cornea/Cataract Surgery Ophthalmologist, splitting time between general ophthalmology patient care (25-30 patients/day) and performing cataract and laser surgical procedures in the OR on a 4-day workweek schedule. The position also includes participation in general department call duties approximately 4-5 weeks per year.

San Diego is family friendly, with a diverse geography delivering a multitude of housing options and top-rated school districts.
  • Group has 19 clinic locations throughout San Diego
  • Ophthalmology services are offered at 7 site locations
  • SRSMG is a large, multi-specialty group that offers patients convenient, coordinated & integrated care
  • Group provides patients a full range of services across 29 different specialties in medicine
  • All clinics have a lead RN, triage RN, LVNs and 1:1 Provider/MA ratio plus operations team
  • Integrated EMR system allows for seamless communication among group PCP's & specialists
  • Requirements/Preferred Experience
  • Must be board-eligible/board-certified physician in Ophthalmology
  • Completion of a Cornea Fellowship is required to join our Ophthalmology division
  • Excellent cataract surgery skills

Position Details

  • 4-day workweek schedule
  • 1 day or 2 half days in OR performing cataract and cataract surgeries
  • Average patient load is 25-30 patients/day (general ophthalmology)

  • Salary Range: $360,000-$700,000+The posted compensation range reflects the anticipated salary or compensation range for this position, as required by applicable state law. Actual total compensation may be higher and can include additional earnings such as productivity incentives, quality and performance bonuses, hospital/call stipends, extra shift pay, and other compensation components, where applicable. Providers may also be eligible for a CME allowance and a comprehensive benefits package. Individual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity.
  • Practice will be combination of general Ophthalmology and Cornea/Cataract surgery
  • 2 Call Pools:
  • General call for the department is taken 1 week at a time, approximately 4-5 weeks per year.
  • Sub-specialty back up call is taking 1 month at a time
  • User friendly work schedule with excellent support staff and collegial work environment
  • If fellow, will be required to become board certified within first two years of employment
  • Sign-On bonus
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible
  • Full comprehensive benefits package including pension plans and 401K
  • PAID VACATION, CME and SICK time including annual CME allowance.
