The technologist performs invasive procedures alongside the interventional radiologist, taking responsibility for patient assessment, education before and after the procedure, and safe monitoring during the procedure. This role also includes the safe administration of radiation, contrast dosing, and image processing.
Candidates must graduate from an accredited radiologic technology school, with a preference for one year of interventional radiology experience or completion of an advanced IR program. Required credentials include ARRT registration, South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association licensure, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and minimum 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred and /or graduate of an advanced IR program. Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA). Must be able to produce very high quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be familiar with age specific criteria. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
