Position Summary

Provides patient care by scrubbing surgical cases. Assists with and provides appropriate supplies and equipment for vaginal deliveries. Performs a variety of non-nursing functions including clerical functions.

Duties

Transcribes physician orders accurately and timely. Schedules medical procedures and appointments for patients. Maintains patient confidentiality, maintains patient’s medical record in chronological order. Enters all orders into POETS accurately and timely. Enters data into Delivery Log books. Utilizes all communication systems correctly (pagers, call system, phone). Reports all identified and potential problems to the Charge Nurse and/or Clinical Nurse Manager. Utilizes principles and techniques of operating asepsis. Observes for and promptly reports breaks in sterile techniques. Completes sponge, instrument, and needle counts and reports any discrepancy before skin closure begins.
