The Associate Counselor oversees aspects of patient treatment under supervision, coordinating care from admission through discharge and follow-up. Responsibilities include conducting individual and group sessions focused on addiction causes and effects, and participating fully in the multidisciplinary team decision-making process.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field like psychology, counseling, or social work, as required by the operating state. Additionally, an associate, assistant, or resident level of licensure or certification in counseling, social work, or addiction is necessary, along with at least one year of experience in substance use or mental health.

As an Associate Counselor, you are under the supervision of a licensed counselor within their discipline and is actively working to complete state specific requirements for credentialing purposes in pursuit of full independent certification and/or licensure or is working to maintain current certification, where applicable. You will oversee aspects of a patient’s treatment with appropriate scope of practice. This includes coordination and continuity of care from admission through discharge and follow-up of patients while under supervision. You will also promote performance improvement and service delivery by conducting individual and group sessions directed towards addressing the causes and effects of the patient’s addiction.
