The Interventional Radiology RN will play a vital role in life-changing procedures within the Heart & Vascular Center team, delivering exceptional patient care from initial assessment through recovery. This involves working at the forefront of innovative Interventional Radiology procedures.
Candidates must possess a North Dakota license (or compact) and a nursing degree or diploma, preferably with two years of nursing experience. Required certifications include current BLS and ACLS, and the ability to care for patients across all age groups is essential.
Provide pre-procedure assessment and preparation of patients for various interventional radiology procedures, including obtaining medical history, verifying consents, establishing IV access, and administering pre-procedural medications. Monitor patients continuously during complex IR procedures, including conscious sedation administration and monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, vital sign assessment, and readiness to identify and respond to emergent situations. Assist the Interventional Radiologist and procedural team during sterile procedures, anticipating needs, managing equipment, and ensuring adherence to aseptic technique and patient safety protocols. Implement and manage post-procedure recovery care, including assessing for complications such as bleeding or vascular compromise, managing pain, and providing patient education for discharge or transfer. Collaborate effectively with Interventional Radiologists, Radiologic Technologists, anesthesia providers, and other specialists to optimize patient flow, ensure precise procedural execution, and deliver seamless, multidisciplinary care. Maintain accurate and meticulous documentation of all patient assessments, medications, procedural events, and interventions, adhering to strict hospital policies and regulatory requirements for procedural care. Union Work Agreement: Shift Type/Length: Varies On Call Expectations: Rotating, 1-2 times per week (Starts 1600 until 0700 on the subsequent day), Every 3-4th weekend (Friday 1600-Monday 0700) Weekend/Holiday Rotation: 1-2 Holidays per year Job Requirements Required Qualifications Nursing Degree from an approved school of nursing At least 1 Year of Experience In Interventional Radiology Nursing required. LICENSURE Active Registered Nurse license in good standing with the North Dakota Board of Nursing or Active Registered Nurse license in a compact state Working knowledge of clinical skills in delivery of patient care in a procedural or critical care setting Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certifications within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required Good communication skills necessary for constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients Maintains confidentiality
