Perform technical ultrasound imaging procedures and assist physicians with invasive procedures. Ensure accurate patient documentation, coding, and adherence to safety protocols.
Requires completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Ultrasound program. Must hold RDMS and BLS or CPR certifications.
Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Assists physicians with invasive procedures, adhering to universal protocol standards. Interacts with patients and co-workers, displaying caring, listening, dignity, and respect. Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to alleviate fears. Ensures exams are properly coded, tracked, networked, and charges entered. Identifies patients using two identifiers and reviews patient history and physician orders. Documents patient history in electronic records as required. May handle High-Level Disinfection of devices, supplies, and equipment. Obtains and documents cross-sectional anatomy images, correlating measurements with data charts. Performs technical ultrasound procedures, using appropriate instrumentation and techniques.
Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
