The role involves assisting patients through their episode of care while prioritizing quality and safety, which includes delegating, directing, and overseeing developmentally appropriate patient care. Essential functions include providing nursing care using a Family Centered approach, assessing patient needs, communicating priorities to support staff, and planning/implementing care using Evidence-Based Practices.
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of inpatient pediatric nursing experience and hold a current Ohio Nursing License, with a BSN or a commitment to obtain one within five years of hire. Required certifications include current CPR, with willingness to obtain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON, or others as determined by management.
36 hours per week working requirement during the non-summer months. No working requirement for 8 weeks, to fall within the summer months of May through August. Exact timeframe 8 weeks off to be discussed between candidate and hiring manager. Positions open on day shift (7a-7p) and night shift (7p-7a). Every third weekend requirement. Holiday requirement to follow unit policy. Position is full-time benefits eligible. 2+ years of inpatient pediatric nursing experience required.
Summary: Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.
Essential Functions: Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Assesses individualized patient needs. Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel. Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices. Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families. Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff. Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures. Education Requirement: BSN or Associate's Degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire, required. Licensure Requirement: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
