This position is responsible for delivering nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department (ED) by utilizing the full nursing process from triage through discharge or admission. The role requires effective communication with the ED team to ensure timely and professional care while demonstrating the ability to function efficiently in high-stress environments.
Candidates must possess a minimum of six months of recent emergency room nursing experience along with six months of critical care experience, holding a current California RN license and required AHA certifications (ACLS, BLS, PALS). External candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and TNCC/CPI certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Your Role on the Team
This position is responsible for the nursing care delivered to patients in the ED. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) throughout a patient's stay in the ED, from triage to discharge/admission. Communicates effectively with other ED team members to ensure appropriate, timely, and professional care to all patients. Demonstrates ability to function safely and efficiently in high-stress situations and in response to unexpected changes in workload. Demonstrates knowledge of resources available within the hospital and in the community. Reports to ED Manager and overseen by the Admin Director of Nursing ED.
What It Takes to be Successful
Minimum 6 months recent emergency room nursing experience. Minimum 6 months critical care experience. Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate emergent, urgent, and non-urgent care to all persons who present to the ED for evaluation and treatment. Knowledge of dysrhythmia and appropriate interventions. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. All External Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Current California RN license Current American Heart Association ACLS, BLS, and PALS. TNCC and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Course Certification within 90 days of hire. PALS certification within 90 days of hire/transfer.
