The technician performs a vital part of patient care by embedding and preparing slides for routine H & E and special stain procedures, while also performing and documenting scheduled preventative maintenance. This role requires recognizing when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, and staining tasks within a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Candidates must have experience in microtomy and embedding, along with one year of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing, and a High School diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate's or Bachelor of Science degree and completion of a histotechnology program, along with ASCP certification, are preferred.
