The LPN provides practical nursing care for inpatient neuro patients under the direction of an RN or physician, including medication administration and therapeutic treatment. They also collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans while advocating for patient rights.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited school of practical nursing and hold a valid license to practice in the state of Virginia. No prior experience is required, though de-escalation training is mandatory for psychiatry and behavioral health roles.
Experience and licensure/certification requirements may vary by department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development, possesses the ability to collect data reflective of the patient’s status, interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age and specific needs, and provides the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
