The Psychiatrist oversees the quality of patient care, assesses admission appropriateness, performs psychiatric assessments, and directs the treatment team in continuing care efforts. This role also involves completing necessary documentation for accurate reimbursement and providing psychiatric consultations as requested.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited medical school and have completed an accredited residency program in psychiatry, or be at least in the 6th month of PGY-3 or higher in an ACGME-accredited program. Prior experience in psychiatric practice within the specialty within the last two years is generally required, though recent graduates satisfy this requirement upon residency/fellowship completion.
Graduate of an accredited medical school or foreign equivalent degree. Completion of an accredited residency program in psychiatry OR at least be in the 6th month of PGY-3 or higher in an ACGME-accredited Psychiatric Residency or in a Psychiatry Fellowship Program PGY-4 or higher. If seeking privileges in specialized areas (e.g., child & adolescent, geriatric, addiction, etc.) completion of an accredited fellowship in the respective field. Prior experience in psychiatric practice, within specialty, within the past two (2) years. New Grads: Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency and/or fellowship satisfies this requirement. Current Residents or Fellows: In at least the 6th month of the PGY-3 or higher, and in the process of completing an accredited psychiatry residency or fellowship program satisfies this requirement. Employment with Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital requires successful completion of a Level II background Screening.
