The Histotechnologist processes surgical, autopsy, and study specimens for pathologic diagnosis through fixation, microtomy, and staining. They are also responsible for maintaining equipment, performing quality control, and managing laboratory reagents.
An Associate's degree and graduation from an approved school of Histotechnology are required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates must hold a current Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and be HT or HTL certified (or eligible).
The Histotechnologist I processes surgical, autopsy, and study specimens for pathologic diagnosis. Responsibilities include tissue fixation, processing, freezing, microtomy, frozen sectioning, and staining slides for microscopic examination by the Pathologist.
