The role involves completing necessary patient forms, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety during transport to and from the MRI exam area. This position also requires maintaining technical competency and cooperating with facility personnel while adhering to all policies and procedures.
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of two years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Imaging Assistant. Candidates must be able to safely work in MRI Zones III and IV according to safety guidelines and possess knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Performs MRI imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions following accepted standards of practice and protocols. · Completes and signs necessary forms and explains the procedure to the patient. · Maintains patient care, comfort, and safety during transport to and from the coach and the exam. · Maintains technical competency through continued education. · Administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols. · Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures. · Maintains current Permits to Practice in all states in which services are performed. · Provide images to the facility in the desired site format. · Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members. · May assist with the setup and tear down of equipment following SMS and/or manufacturers’ guidelines. · Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the facility. · Completes necessary administrative tasks. · Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality. · Complies with all safety policies and regulations. · Performs additional duties as required. EDUCATION · Radiographer certification required. EXPERIENCE · Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an MRI Tech.

KNOWLEDGE · Medical terminology. · Principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures. · Basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques. · Knowledge of how diseases and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically. · Knowledge of human anatomy. · Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work. SKILLS · Strong customer service. · Strong attention-to-detail. · Ability to work under pressure. ABILITIES · Lift and position patients for the type of MRI procedure required. · Notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings. · Keep and maintain records. ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS · Normal clinic environment. · Ability to set up and operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment. · May be exposed to disease, radiation, and toxic chemicals in the course of performing the work.
