The Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT) is responsible for greeting, evaluating, and assisting patients with their care needs while documenting conditions and collaborating with healthcare staff. They also deliver emergency care, maintain a clean environment, and provide observation for patients at risk of self-harm.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and complete an accredited EMT program, along with current state certification. Additional certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required within 90 days of hire, and a flexible schedule is necessary.
The Staff Pad has partnered with a hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to hire an Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT). This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated healthcare team and make a direct impact on patient care in the emergency department.
Greet, evaluate, and assist patients with necessary care needs. Document patient conditions and treatments while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights. Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff to provide safe, timely, and competent care. Deliver emergency care within scope of practice, including: Vital signs Point-of-care testing Phlebotomy EKGs Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Other emergency management tasks Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment. Provide one-on-one observation for patients when needed, including those at risk of self-harm. Answer phones, coordinate transfers, and perform additional duties aligned with hospital policies and state scope of practice.
High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited EMT program. Current state certification or license required. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (upon hire or within 90 days). Flexible schedule — weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts required. Ability to work full-time (36 hours per week) with 12-hour shifts (7 a.m.–7 p.m. or 7 p.m.–7 a.m.)
Minimum of one year of direct medical clinical experience preferred. Strong service excellence skills to support quality patient care and satisfaction. Ability to prioritize patient needs based on severity. Strong organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and independently as needed. Proficiency with Windows-based software and EMR systems. Commitment to infection control protocols and safety standards. Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 35 lbs, and utilize proper body mechanics.
