Reports to: RN’s/Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing Summary: Employee is required to provide care for the elderly residents in the facility. Equipment Used: Various medical equipment Environment: Inside: 100% Outside: 0% Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Communicates with family members regarding the progress of resident. Assists physician with rounds as needed. Draws blood and obtains fluids to submit for lab work as ordered. Monitors and records all progress of residents and communicates with physician. Assists with passing out meal trays and assist in feeding as needed. Monitor work of other nursing staff in unit to ensure thoroughness. Use telephone to communicate with physicians, families, and arrange appointments as needed. Make rounds to ensure cleanliness and proper care to residents. Manage nursing staff on your unit. Assist nursing staff as needed. Assigns personnel according to policy outlined by nursing services. Consults with the DON as necessary and keeps her informed of problems and staffing needs. Prepares and administers medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility policies and procedures. Receives, records, and carries out physician orders in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Charts daily on nurses notes any unusual occurrences or acute episodes related to resident care, and writes follow-up notes each shift for 24 hours following resolution of the problem. Responsible for assuring the accurate administration and recording of narcotics and assures that drugs covered by the Controlled Substance Act are verifiable by inventory. Must be able to consistently work cooperatively with residents, charge nurses, CNA’s and other staff members. Must wear clean, neat, and modest uniform. Must be punctual and dependable. Must be accept duties politely and perform them with minimal supervision. Adhere to Flesher’s policies and procedures, employee handbook, resident’s rights, OSHA, State and Federal safety standard precautions, i.e. infection control, PPE’s, and isolation rooms.
